Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions about using Ninja Uptime.
General
What is Ninja Uptime?
Ninja Uptime is a monitoring platform that tracks the availability and health of your services.
It automatically detects issues, creates incidents, and notifies your team.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The admin application is web-based.
Once deployed, you can manage everything from the dashboard.
What can I monitor?
You can monitor:
- Websites (HTTP/HTTPS)
- SSL certificates
- Network services (depending on configuration)
Monitors & Targets
What is the difference between a target and a monitor?
- Target = the thing being monitored (e.g. domain, service)
- Monitor = the check performed on that target (e.g. HTTP check, SSL check)
A single target can have multiple monitors.
How often are checks performed?
This depends on the interval configured in the monitor settings.
Shorter intervals detect issues faster but may increase load.
Can I test a monitor manually?
Yes. When creating or editing a monitor, you can run a test check to verify configuration.
Incidents
What creates an incident?
An incident is automatically created when a monitor detects a failure.
Examples:
- Service downtime
- SSL certificate expired
- SSL certificate nearing expiration
When is an incident resolved?
An incident is resolved when:
- The monitor detects the issue is fixed, or
- You manually resolve it from the incident page
Can I add notes to incidents?
Yes. You can add notes for:
- Debugging
- Root cause analysis
- Internal communication
Why do I see multiple incidents for the same target?
Each incident represents a separate failure event.
If a service goes down multiple times, each occurrence creates a new incident.
Alerts
When are alerts sent?
Alerts are triggered when:
- An incident is created
- (Optionally) when an incident is resolved
This depends on your alert policy configuration.
What happens if an alert fails?
Failed alerts are logged in the Alert Deliveries section of the incident.
You can review:
- Delivery status
- Timestamps
- Failures
Status Pages
What is a status page?
A status page displays the health of selected targets.
It can be shared publicly or restricted to specific users.
What is the difference between public and private status pages?
- Public – anyone can view the page
- Private – only invited users can access it
Can I customize the status page?
Yes. You can:
- Upload a logo
- Add footer text
- Customize styling using theme JSON
Can I control which services appear on a status page?
Yes. You can select and reorder targets when creating or editing a status page.
Users & Access
Can users belong to multiple accounts?
Yes. A user can be a member of multiple accounts with different roles.
What roles are available?
- SuperAdmin
- Owner
- Admin
- Member
- Visitor
- Status Page Only
Each role has different permissions.
How do I invite a user?
- Go to Users
- Click Add User
- Enter their details and role
- Send the invitation
What happens when I remove a user?
The user immediately loses access to that account.
